Substitute Teacher Service is actively recruiting candidates to fill open positions as well as substitutes.
Candidates will have the proper credentials and experience working with children, effective interpersonal and communication skills, as well as physical capabilities. Overall, candidate must have a positive attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn.
To apply, you must possess the following credentials:
• PCA Req’d Education: Proof of High School Diploma or GED
• Paraprofessional Req’d Education: Proof of High School Diploma or GED in addition to:
- Have completed at least two (2) years of postsecondary study;
- Possess an associate degree or higher;
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a state or local assessment. (Credential of Competency)
• Food Service Req’d Education: Proof of High School Diploma or GED
• Pennsylvania Criminal Records check (Act 34) within 5 years
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance History (Act 151) within 5 years
• FBI Criminal History Record within 5 years (if applicant has clearance through Cogent, must provide entire document, receipt not accepted)
• Proof of a TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months
• CPR/First Aid certification (online training available at cost to employee)
• Resume
• 3 professional references (contact information) or letters of reference
• Routing number and account number for direct deposit setup
• Valid Identification for I-9.
• A valid, working email address __ not a college or university address for those will expire! If you do not have a valid email address, it is recommended that you set up for example a Hotmail or GMail email account. This is how all future communications from STS will reach you.
• Effective 12/22/2014: In accordance with PA Act 168 of 2014, a list of all current and past employers, including contact information, for all jobs held where you have or had direct contact with children.
• As required by the PA Department of Education: Each school year, provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to position. Pro-ration will apply based on date of hire within the school year.
At the final on boarding step, we will take a photo of you for an ID badge. Please dress appropriately.
