Substitute Teacher Service is actively recruiting candidates to fill open positions as well as substitute Personal Care Assistants (PCA) and One-On-One aides. Candidates will have the proper credentialing and experience working with children, effective interpersonal and communications skills, ability to lift and move students needing assistance.
Overall, candidates will attend to the needs of the assigned student or small groups of students. Candidates must maintain strict confidentiality with respect to information concerning students, personnel and other administrative matters affecting the district.
STS will credential the candidates through training programs at STS Academy. Training will include CPR, First Aid and introduction to Behavioral Practices.
In order to be a personal care assistant in any Pennsylvania school district, you must possess the following credentials:
- Proof of a high school diploma or higher education
- A Pennsylvania Criminal Records check (Act 34) that is clean and less than 5 years old **- https://epatch.pa.gov/home
- A Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance History (Act 151) that is clean and less than 5 years old ** - https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
- A FBI Criminal History Record that is clean and less than 5 years old ** - https://www.pa.cogentid.com/index_pde.htm
- Proof of a TB test or chest x-ray that is less than 3 months
- 3 professional references (contact information) and/or letters
- A Resume
- Routing number and account number for direct deposit setup
- 2 Valid forms of Identification for I-9. Click here for acceptable forms.
- A valid, working email address __ not a college or university address for those will expire! If you do not have a valid email address, it is recommended that you set up for example a Hotmail or GMail email account. This is how all future communications from STS will reach you.
- Effective 12/22/2014: In accordance with PA Act 168 of 2014, a list of all current and past employers, including contact information, for all jobs held where you have or had direct contact with children.
** Please note: clearances cannot be older than 5 years however, some districts may require new clearances that are less than 1 year old!
At your interview, we will take a photo of you for an ID badge. Please dress appropriately.

** If you have already completed Act 126 training, please bring proof of completion. If you need training, STS will be notifying you of how to get it.
